This board was founded in 1986 to promote the observance of Brit Milah, ritual circumcision. Through informative meetings, educational brochures, and video showings concerning the Brit ceremony, Jewish families of all denominations are provided with information about this ritual. As Dallas' only local mohel, Rabbi Shawel is on staff at Medical City Dallas and has hospital privileges at Presbyterian and HCA Medical Center Plano hospitals.

CHAI serves adults with mental retardation primarily from Dallas (and the North Texas area) by operating small community integrated group homes, with six residents in each home. Residents of CHAI group homes live near family and friends and are fully included in the Jewish community. The only program of its kind in Texas and the contiguous states, CHAI provides opportunities for residents to know success, feel pride, and develop a sense of security - to be individuals of worth and dignity.

Mikvah and the accompanying system of family purity were once as well known and widely practiced in a Jewish home as lighting Sabbath candles. A mikvah is a pool filled with natural water, and immersion within it is a connection to nature, the universe, and G-d.
The mikvah is one aspect of the divinely ordained system called family purity which infuses spirituality into the martial relationship. Mikvah Israel, housed in a beautiful, modern structure, is dedicated to making the mikvah experience both pleasurable and meaningful.
